Ms Petersen is an Australian journalist and currently the presenter of SBS World News on Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), after many years at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Conjoint Professor Anne Duggan
Chief Executive Officer, Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care
Professor Duggan was appointed CEO of the Commission in March 2023. She has been with the Commission since 2014, previously as Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Director and Senior Medical Advisor. Professor Duggan also had a leadership role on the Medical Board Expert Panel relating to the review of cosmetic surgery. With experience as a practicing clinician, policy maker and health sector leader, Professor Duggan has an in-depth understanding of the complex issues surrounding safety and quality in health care.
Ms Christine Gee AM
President, Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA), Chief Executive Officer, Toowong Private Hospital
Ms Gee is the CEO of Toowong Private Hospital and is Chair of the Commission’s Private Hospital Sector Committee and co-chaired the Cosmetic Surgery Project Advisory Committee. With over 35 years of experience in hospital administration, Ms Gee is involved in a number of state and national boards and committees, including for the APHA and the Medical Board of Australia.
Dr Garry Buckland
Consultant specialist in plastic & reconstructive surgery
Dr Buckland is a consultant specialist in plastic and reconstructive surgery, with extensive experience in all aspects of the specialty. He is a Director of the Australasian Foundation for Plastic Surgery, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a member of the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). Dr Buckland is passionate about surgical education, multidisciplinary care and optimising patient experiences.
Ms Margaret Banks
Director, National Standards Program, Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care
Ms Banks holds the position of National Standards Program Director with the Commission. Since July 2006 she has worked with the Australian Government, states and territories, clinicians, consumers and other stakeholders to develop and implement two editions of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and a program of systematic accreditation reform across the Australian health system.
