She’s received a Walkley Award, the Eureka Prize for Science Journalism and her work has appeared in the anthology The Best of Australian Science Writing.
Chief Medical Officer, Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care
Carolyn was appointed Chief Medical Officer at the Commission in September 2023, having been a Clinical Director since early 2021. An emergency physician in Newcastle NSW, she has extensive expertise in aged care, and a special interest in transitions of care and the appropriate use of psychotropics.
University of Tasmania
Juanita is an experienced credentialled pharmacist and aged care researcher. She developed the RedUSe program, which has helped reduce antipsychotic and benzodiazepine use in residential Aged Care. She currently consults for the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, promoting strategies to minimise inappropriate psychotropic drug use in all care settings.
Geriatrician and Clinical Director, Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service
Eddy is a Geriatrician working in Cairns, Far North Queensland. He leads the Healthy Ageing Research Team (HART) at James Cook University and is a past president of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine. He has strong clinical and research interests in dementia, healthy ageing and novel models of service delivery.
Director, National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health, UNSW, Sydney
Julian is a neuropsychiatrist, the inaugural Director of the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health and an NHMRC Leadership Fellow. Julian is involved in improving health policy, practice and supports for people with an intellectual or developmental disability.
